I lived most of my life as "the big guy". Overweight, self-conscious, and unable to do any kind of physical activity without getting out of breath. But on January 1st, 2020, I decided to make my health a priority. I started exercising with walking more and lifting weights (which is my favorite form of exercise). Flexible dieting also became my "diet" of choice as I could still eat my favorite foods, but learned to do so in more nutritious ways. Over the course of the next 3 years I was able to lose 100 pounds and reverse my pre-diabetes and high blood pressure. Other hobbies that I took up with this new found fitness lifestyle were bodybuilding, jiu-jitsu, running, boxing, and hiking; things that were none existent in my life before.
But even greater than the physical benefits, fitness has transformed my mental health and confidence. Being consistent with my diet and exercise helps me ward of depression. And being confident with how I look and feel, along with being able to do things physically that most people never try, has given me confidence in all other areas of my life.
Now that I am an ISSA certified personal trainer, I am more than happy to help any individual who would like to take charge of their health and incorporate fitness and nutrition into their life. Being able to still eat your favorite foods, while looking and feeling your best, is totally possible. I'm living proof!
